How do most great ideas start? Spontaneously, and high, of course! But really, this podcast came about because, I was tired of feeling alone as a new mom. I am lucky because about a month after my son was born, I actively searched for a local mom group to help me cope with postpartum and finding mom-friends. I love these ladies and each of them inspire me to be strong, bold, generous and successful, but a small piece of me somehow struggled to connect. Even as a new mom, I knew I wanted to continue going to raves, listen to electronic dance music, to cover my body in permanent art, and do all the things that make me who I am. But finding mom's who like the same things as me was somewhat of a difficult task, and this became even more obvious when I mentioned I work in the recreational cannabis industry.
About 7 months postpartum my life flipped upside down and I became a single mom. Dealing with mental struggles such as postpartum, plus the physical struggles of accepting my new postpartum body, along with becoming a single mama was more than I could handle. One day I knew I needed to make a change and seek professional help from a therapist, and really start to revaluate my life. And one thing I did was start listening to podcasts from people who focused on changing their lives for the better. New mindsets, affirmations, goals, manifestations, and more were the main things I was indulging in, and still continue to daily! I loved listening to people talk about the things they believe in, and their daily habits which have turned their life around in such a positive way. I wanted that for myself. And as those daily podcast episodes helped propel me into my current mindset, it sparked an interest in starting my own podcast one day, but I had no clue what I wanted to talk about..
Working in the sales / vendor side of the cannabis industry has allowed me the freedom to connect, and network with thousands of people. On my journey I would meet conscious cannabis parents, and friends wanting to become parents. As we talked , I noticed although we had this amazing industry to safely discuss our love for this natural plant, it was still hard to find other canna-mamas. The moment I found out someone was a parent, my eyes would light up! "You're a mom?! How cool! Me too!". I felt this instant connection since society still sees cannabis and parenthood as taboo when mixed together. Other mom's agreed that it was tough for them to open up to family, make friends, and sometimes even connect their kids with other children, mainly because other parents do not consume cannabis, or most of the time, they are uneducated about the benefits this plant holds. In that moment, I knew this was my calling. I wanted to became a voice for the parents who love cannabis as much as I do. But not just cannabis; I want to dive deep into the benefits of other taboo, holistic plant medicines parents consume to better their mental health. All parents deserve to feel accepted for doing what is best for their state of mind. Truly, everyone does. Being a parent is no joke, and not for the faint of heart. In this podcast, we will chat about all things motherhood, cannabis, mental health, music, art, and everything in between.
This podcast is meant to connect us and build a community of women who empower each other to stand up and talk about cannabis in all its glory. Plant medicines are growing fast, and people are starting to wake up and realize these babies are only beneficial for us. I want society to become educated in the positive ways cannabis helps our health. Here we stand for growth, change, independence, and happiness. I hope this podcast allows you to truly feel alive and shine. Thank you so much for being here.
